Day of Giving Delivers Massive Impact
The Door County community came out in full force to support the Y during our third annual Day of Giving, held March 1. From open to close at both the Northern Door Program Center in Fish Creek and Sturgeon Bay Program Center, members rallied to raise awareness and funds for the Y's Annual Campaign.
From racing rubber ducks, to sporting class t-shirts for wacky photos, and embodying Bob Ross at the Youth Art Show, staff, volunteers and members were having fun and working to create a better community. Together, nearly 200 people from around the country donated to our Annual Campaign on Day of Giving, raising a total of $27,126.
The Annual Campaign raises over $535,000 every year to ensure that no matter the race, age, economic status or social group, the Y is welcoming to anyone who wishes to participate in building a healthy mind, body, and spirit. No one is every turned away from the Y due to an inability to pay, making the Y a safe haven for all.
This year, our fundraising was specifically focused on our Safety Around Water Programming. At the YMCA we know how critical it is to be confident in and around the water. We want to develop water safety skills in all of our community youth and adults. The Annual Campaign allows us to do that by providing scholarships and program assistance to make it affordable for individuals and families.
THANK YOU to all of our donors; we couldn’t do it without YOU. When a strong YMCA provides meaningful opportunities - such as helping young people grow into responsible adults, supporting working families with child care, keeping a senior healthy and active, or offering wellness programs to combat obesity and chronic disease - our whole community benefits.
