Door County YMCA Striver Gymnasts Secure Gold at Pink Invitational

DOOR COUNTY, WI (December 9, 2024) – The Door County YMCA Striver Gymnastics Team secured gold at the Pink Invitational this past weekend. Marinette-Menominee YMCA hosted the six-team invitational.

 

The Striver Level 8 Team tumbled to victory winning gold as a team. Team scores are tallied by taking the top three scores in each event. Having three level eight gymnasts competing for the Striver Team gave them no margin for error. The girls did not disappoint. The team secured Gold with a score of 67.85 just edging out Wausau who grabbed silver with a 67.55. Medaling for the team were: Estelle Duerst who placed first on vault, second on beam and all-around, third on bars, and sixth on floor. Amira Anschutz won silver on floor and vault, third on beam and all-around, and sixth on bars. On bars, Portia Hah won silver, and she placed sixth on vault, beam, and all-around.

 

The Striver Silver Team earned silver as a team. The team earned 33 individual medals. Gold medal winners were: Cosette Orrick (12 and up) winning the all-around, bars, and vault. Adele (10 and under) won the beam, bars, and the all-around. Annabel Smullen (10 and under) won the floor while teammate Genevieve Gigstad won the vault. Medaling in the top five for the team were Louisa Grenfell, Piper Delarwell, Genevieve Gigstead, Annabel Smullen, Taiya Couperous, Hailey Clarke, Milana Reifsnyder, Maise Keinhofer, Peyton Watermolen, Adela Cordua-Stenzel and Cosette Orrick.

Platinum gymnast Shaylynn Asher won gold in the all-around and beam. Shaylyn secured silver on floor and bars.

 

The Striver Excel Gold Team won a silver team title. Ellie Kelsey on the floor and Evelynn Kelsey on the beam won gold individually for the team. The fourth-place finishers were Keira Clark, Greta Virgin, Ellie Kelsey, Evelynn Kelsey, and Ellie Kelsey.

 

The Strivers next competition will take place in January. The team will be heading to the “Tumble in the Tundra” Invitational in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
