Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastics State Champions

The Door County YMCA Striver Gymnastic Team returned home from the State Tournament with two Individual State Champions! The 2022 YMCA State Gymnastic Tournament was hosted by the Sheboygan YMCA this past weekend. Fourteen Teams total were competing in the Tournament.

 

X-Cel Gold Gymnast, Anna Gallardo-Ibarro, captured her State Title in the All Around scoring a 36.80. Team mate Amelia Zoschke, captured her State Title on the Balance Beam scoring an 8.9. 

 

The Gold Team returned home and grabbed a third place Team Trophy out of 14 Teams scoring a 108.65. 108.7 took second, 109.5 earned first! It was an exciting, nail biting competition. Girls medaling for the Gold Team were: Anna Gallardo-Ibarro, (14 and over) 1st in all around, 2nd on floor, 3rd on bars, and 4th on vault and beam. Amelia Zoschke, (13 and under) 1st on beam, 2nd in the all- around and bars, and 5th on vault.  Shylee Asher, (13 and under) 4th on vault and 5th on floor. Placing in the top 15 was Alexa Jimenes-Seyfer.  

 

The Striver Silver Team had three girls competing. Evelynn Kelsey (12 and under) earned a 4th on floor and a 5th on vault Shaylyn Asher (12 and under) placed 5th on beam. Keira Wesley placed in the top 15 in the 14 and over group.                              

 

Level 6 Striver Gymnasts grabbed a 7th place Team Trophy out of 14 Teams scoring 103.82. Medaling for the Level 6 group was Estelle Duerst (13 and under). Estelle earned 3rd on beam, 6th on floor and 11th on bars. Amira Anschutz (13 and under) placed 6th on floor and vault. Placing in the top 12 were Lauren Pratt (13 and under) and Julia Gregory (16 and over).

 

The team will move on to the 2022 YMCA Gymnastic Nationals in Toledo, Ohio June 22-26. Congratulations to the Strivers Gymnastic Team for an outstanding showing at the 2022 YMCA State Gymnastic Tournament.
