DOOR COUNTY, WIThe Door County YMCA Striver Gymnastic Team tumbled to a victory this past weekend in Green Bay, WI. The Striver Team competed in the six-team “Tumble in the Tundra” Invitational hosted by the Green Bay YMCA. Level eight gymnasts Daylia Sund, Portia Hah, and Amira Anschutz led the competition, capturing six individual medals. The Striver – Level 8 gymnasts won Gold with a team score of 65.05, second with a 68.35. Daylia Sund won gold in the all-around, vault, and bars.  Amira Anschutz won silver in the all-around, beam, and vault competitions.                                                                                                                     

Excel Silvers took to the floor and excelled to Gold winning the Team title with a score of 110.45.  The Team won 27 individual medals.  In the ten and younger bracket, winners were: Annabel Smullen, 1st bars, 3rd all-around and beam, 4th bars. Adela Cordua-Stenzel, 1st All-Around with a 36.25, 1st beam, and 4th vault, floor, bars. Peyton Watermolen, 4th floor, 5th bars and beam, 6th vault and all-around. Genevieve Gigstead, 1st vault, 2nd bars, 3rd floor, 4th all-around.  In the 13-year-old and up bracket, Emma Higginsbotham won gold in the all-around, silver on bars, bronze on beam, and 4th on vault. Teammate Cossette Orrick earned silver on the floor, bronze on vault, 4th in the all-around, and 5th on bars.

The Excel Gold won a Silver Team Title with a score of 101.6.  The team won nine individual medals. Taking the podium in the 12 and younger bracket were: Sawyer Soukup winning gold on vault and 4th on floor. Ellie Kelsey won silver on the beam, and 5th on the floor, vault, and all-around.

Excel Platinum competitor Shaylyn Asher won gold on bars and silver in the all-around and beam.

The Striver Team will host their home Meet the February 22-23 weekend. Saturday begins with Levels 6-9 and Platinum with an 8:20 am start. Round two features Level 3’s at 12:45 PM. Round three brings Levels 1 and 2 at 2:45 PM. Round four will feature Excel Silver and Golds with a 5:00 PM start time. Sunday morning Levels 4 and 5 compete at 8:00 am. The public is welcome to come and cheer on the Striver Team. Striver gymnasts will have competitors in rounds one and four.
