Door County YMCA Launches New Community Cupboard to Support Local Families

DOOR COUNTY, WI — The Door County YMCA is excited to announce the launch of its new Community Cupboard, a resource designed to help provide greater access to nutritious food for individuals and families in our community.

The Community Cupboard had a soft launch in mid-summer and was created in collaboration with the Door County Pantry Coalition. The cupboard provides a welcoming and accessible space where community members can find a variety of food items to help supplement their household needs.

Available items include a selection of shelf-stable foods such as cereal, rice, tortillas, soups, granola bars, cake mix, pancake mix, peanut butter, jelly and so much more, along with a limited supply of refrigerated and frozen items, including cheese and frozen salmon. Inventory will vary based on donations and availability.

Community Cupboard Hours:

·Mondays: 7–9 a.m.

·Wednesdays: 4–6 p.m.

“At the YMCA, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food and compassionate support,” said Tonya Felhofer, CEO. “The Community Cupboard is another way we can come alongside our neighbors and help meet a basic need while building a stronger, healthier community.”

The Community Cupboard is part of the Door County YMCA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the whole person—mind, body and spirit. Through partnerships and community resources, the YMCA strives to create opportunities for everyone to thrive.

If you or someone you know could benefit from the Community Cupboard, we encourage you to stop by during open hours. Community members are welcome to utilize this resource as needed.

The Door County YMCA is grateful to the Door County Pantry Coalition and the community partners who are helping make this resource possible.

Together, we can continue building a healthier, stronger community.
