Steve Harty, Former Green Bay YMCA President/CEO, Named Interim CEO

Steve Harty, former Green Bay YMCA CEO, was recently named Interim CEO of the Door County YMCA after Heidi Erickson announced her departure earlier in the month.

Effective September 7, 2022, Steve Harty joined the organization as the Interim CEO after CEO Heidi Erickson announced her transition to the YMCA of the Fox Cities. Steve has served the YMCA organization in a variety of positions over his 38-year career. He retired in December 2018 after serving 20 years as President/CEO of the Greater Green Bay YMCA.

“Steve’s reputation as a great collaborative leader and his ability to create a welcoming culture among staff and members make him the perfect fit for interim leadership for our Y”, says Board Chair Sally Pfeifer.

Steve states his guiding approach is simple: “Leave things better than you found them”, advice that his father gave him. “The Door County Y has an amazing and hardworking team, and I’m excited to see what we can do in this time together," says Harty.

The Door County YMCA Board of Directors has begun the process of working with Y-USA to conduct a CEO search. Board Chair Sally Pfeifer, along with the CEO selection committee, anticipate having a new CEO hired by the end of the calendar year with on-boarding of the new CEO in early 2023.
